Mrs. Hutton and Mrs. Velasquez treated our staff to a caramel apple bar with lots of toppings! This was such a wonderful way to brighten our day! 💙

October is National Principals Month! We are so thankful to be blessed with two wonderful administrators. We appreciate all Mrs. Ditto and Mr. Kordsmeier do for our staff and students! They work hard to make OHE the place to be!

Thank you, Arvest Bank! Arvest Bank donated a Communication Board which allows students to communicate via picture symbols to express their wants, needs, and ideas. This board makes our playground more accessible and inclusive for all of our students. #OHEistheplacetobe

Our Capturing Kids Heart Word of the Month for September is Empathy! Mrs. Taylor's 3rd grade class brainstormed what empathy looks like, feels like, and sounds like. 💙

Thank you to our families for attending Savor and Share! We enjoyed sharing recipes!

Mrs. Siner's class has been working on identifying main ideas and including details in writing. Students chose an animal, wrote a paragraph about what they learned, and built a habitat. 🤩💙#OHEistheplacetobe

Parent-Teacher Conferences will be held at OHE on Tuesday, October 21st and Thursday, October 23rd. We look forward to discussing your child's growth. We ask that you use this link to sign up. https://www.ptcfast.com/schools/Oakland_Heights_Elementary_3

Students in Mrs. Hill's 2nd grade class have been learning all about material properties in Science. They tested the properties of different materials and used them to design hats to help protect them from the sun. #OHEistheplacetobe

Mrs. Taylor's class had a surprise guest reader! Mrs. Ditto stopped by to read the ending of Charlotte's Web. While reading this book, students learned about story elements and how characters interact and how their interactions change the story. They also learned how using sensory rich details makes a story more interesting! The class loved reading the book as a school! 🕷️🐷 #OHEistheplacetobe

Mrs. Hutton’s class created their own classroom constitution on Constitution Day. They read We The Kids, made colonial hats, and signed their constitution with feather markers!

One School, One Book! For the past month, all classes have been reading a classic from 1952...Charlotte's Web. Every student received a copy to keep. Students participated in activities in their classrooms, school wide activities, and book discussions on the morning news. While Charlotte was spinning words in her web to save Wilbur, we thought of words to help and hung them in webs in the hall. Our 3rd and 4th graders took a trip to the Pope County fair after finishing the book! We had so much fun making this book memorable for our students! 🕷️🕸️🐖 #OHEistheplacetobe

We had some special guests at morning drop off! Thank you to the Cyclone Cheer Team for greeting our students! Cheer on our Cyclones as they play at Sylvan Hills tonight! #OneRSD #OHEistheplacetobe

September 15-19 is Start With Hello Week! See the details below to learn about dress up days!

We love guest readers! Thank you to Haydon Arnold for visiting and reading Charlotte's Web with Mrs. Wilson's class. 💙🤩

Thank you to our Oakland families for joining us at Cyclone Stadium on Friday night to support our Cyclones! #OneRSD
